Biography
of Bishop
E.T. Sumlin
Bishop Sumlin was born on February 20, 1972 in Dayton, OH.
He attended the Dayton Public School system up until the age of 14. It was at
that time that Bishop Sumlin’s unfortunate home life got the best of him and he
forsook continuing his education to care for his grandmother and baby cousins.
Bishop Sumlin’s undying determination later allowed him not only to study for
and obtain his General Education Diploma in August of 1989, but he also went on
to study at such universities as Sinclair Community College, Central State
University, and Franklin University having Music and Business as his majors. In
November of 2004, Bishop Sumlin obtained his Doctorate of Divinity degree from
the Columbus Bible College of Indiana.
Bishop Sumlin was saved, sanctified, and filled with the
Holy Ghost under the pastorate of Bishop David Kelley in Dayton, OH in 1987. At
the age of 15, he served as the youngest member of the Missionary Board getting
souls saved and winning people over to the Body of Christ. He began to minister
the Word of God at the tender age of 16. He sat on the Board of Elders at
Daniel Temple under the pastorate of Bishop Charles Oliver. He also served as
the Youth Pastor for a season at The Lighthouse of God in Dayton, OH; but it
wasn’t until Bishop Sumlin joined the Isle of Patmos Holiness Church in Dayton,
OH under the pastorate of Bishop Lucy McGuffey that God began to reveal His
Will and purpose for his life.
God spoke to Bishop Sumlin in 1994 and told him to establish
The Upper Room Deliverance Ministries Rhema Center, International. In April of
1995, Bishop Sumlin, by the leading of the Spirit of God, took the ministry
down south to Rome, Georgia where the trial of his faith took place. Coming out
of this wilderness experience, Bishop Sumlin resolved to bring the ministry to
Columbus, OH where he now resides.
Bishop Sumlin is a devoted husband and father. He married
his wife Monica on December 28, 1991 and they have four children: Orlando,
Christopher, William, and Britney.
Bishop Sumlin is a licensed minister, an ordained elder, and
an ordained pastor. He is the Chief Apostle of the Isle of Patmos International
Fellowship of Churches (IPIFC), an organization that he incorporated on
September 3, 2002. Bishop Sumlin is also
affiliated with the Pentecostal Assemblies of the World and has been since
2004.
Since Bishop Sumlin has been pastoring, he has ordained
pastors, commissioned apostles, and has licensed evangelists, ministers, and
elders. During his 20 years of ministry, including 14 years of pastoring, he
has laid hands on the sick and they have recovered. He has prophesied to many
and has seen numerous ones delivered. Bishop Sumlin’s unique ability to preach
God’s Word with simplicity and power has captured the attention of all that
hear him.
